Like any new thing I find the best way to learn how to do it is to just jump straight in head first! That’s what I’ve done with my photography. I’ve always known what I like and what I think looks good, so I got myself a descent camera, a good sturdy tripod and a camera backpack – basically you could say I had all the gear with no idea! I researched the kind of places that I would like to photograph, what time of day I would like to go and take these photos and then hit YouTube to learn how to best take photos using the scary camera settings (I even took photos of waterfalls on YouTube when I couldn’t go out and try the real thing). After all this I just went out and started snappin’ the more you just try different things – make mistakes and try again the better you’ll get. I’ve been at it for about 4 months now and the progress (I think) I’ve made has been huge, so the more you just practice the craft the better you’ll get. Don’t worry about making mistakes because you will…. the main thing is you enjoy the journey!
